Raid Salah, the leader of Palestine Islamic Movement in 1948, has stated Israel accelerated the excavation works in Jerusalem.

Salah said, “Israel has accelerated the excavation works in Jerusalem. Israel targets to increase its efficiency in the region and enlarge the area reserved for them at 'the Wailing Wall' (Al-buraq wall).

On the other hand, the Al-Aqsa Foundation stated in a report that Israel had commenced simultaneous excavation works at three points around Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In the report, it was stated that Israel targeted to construct new buildings by excavations, destroying Islamic patterns in the region.
