Many dead in Pakistan market blast

An explosion has ripped through a market in the Pakistani city of Dera Ismail Khan in the North West Frontier Province, killing at least eight people and wounding about 50, a government official has said.

Shortly after the blast on Sunday, one person was arrested on suspicion of involvement.
The explosion occurred as fighting between the Pakistani army and Taliban fighters continued in Swat valley in the same province.
Pakistan's military extended its offensive into South Waziristan on Saturday, where the Pakistani Taliban, is based.
In a separate incident on Sunday, a suspected US missile strike killed five people in South Waziristan.
