Assalamu alaykum I have a question about day trading more specifically funded accounts. how that works is you pay a set subscription (not affected by win or loss) only to access the account then you go into the market with completely simulated funds no money is going in the actual market and if you win for ex. 1000$ you get 900 of it but if you lose, the limit loss isnt tied to the original paid amount you just keep paying the subscription and keep trading but from zero. so is it permissable
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, ﷺ, is His slave and Messenger.
Based on what we have been able to ascertain, the business model of many of these companies is founded upon gambling, deception, and misleading traders.
In most cases, the trader is not actually trading with real funds; rather, he trades in simulated or virtual accounts. The company then pays those who succeed in this fictitious trading from the proceeds of the subscription fees paid by those who lose.
The primary objective of these companies is to profit from recurring subscription charges, as the majority of subscribers lose and subsequently renew their subscriptions.
Moreover, these companies often employ various forms of deliberate technical complications and manipulative practices designed to cause traders to fail in the simulated accounts over which the company exercises control, thereby preventing them from obtaining the promised share of profits.
If the matter is as described above, then dealing in such accounts is prohibited under Islamic law, due to the elements of gambling (qimār), excessive uncertainty, and deception that they contain.
Ibn Taymiyyah
said, as recorded in Majmū’ al-Fatāwā:
“The meaning of gambling is that a person’s wealth is taken while he is exposed to risk as to whether he will receive an equivalent return or not.”
He also stated:
“What is established in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim from the Prophet ﷺ that he prohibited transactions involving gharar (excessive uncertainty) encompasses every transaction that involves undue risk and uncertainty.”
Allah Knows best.
