I have a question and please don’t refer me to another fatwa. My question is specifically to Botox lash lifts/ lash lifts. Are they haram? It is usually a temporary procedure
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (
) is His Slave and Messenger.
There is no harm in performing a lash lift or what is known as a Botox lash lift. A woman’s beautification falls under customary matters, and the basic principle regarding such matters is that they are permissible and lawful unless there is evidence indicating prohibition. As for lash lifts specifically, we are unaware of any evidence proving their prohibition.
Ibn Taymiyyah
mentioned in Majmooʿ Al-Fatawa: “After examining the principles of the Shariah, we conclude that customs and habitual worldly matters which people need are fundamentally permissible. Therefore, nothing from them is to be prohibited except what Allah, The Exalted, has prohibited. Otherwise, one would fall under the meaning of the statement of Allah, The Almighty, (what means): ‘Tell me about the provision Allah has sent down for you, and you have made some of it unlawful and some lawful.’” [End quote.]
However, if performing the lash lift requires preventing water from reaching the eyelashes for an entire day, as is known in some lash lift procedures, or if the substance used forms a barrier that prevents water from reaching the hair, then it is not permissible for a woman to do so during a time in which prayer and purification are obligatory upon her. This is so that she does not fail to attain proper ritual purity.
But if it is done during a time in which she is religiously excused from prayer, then there is no objection to doing so.
Allah Knows best
